VIVA MAGENTA IS THE COLOR OF THE YEAR 2023

The Pantone color of the year for 2023 is Viva Magenta 18-1750. A vivid and vibrant shade of red, rooted in nature, chosen precisely for its being natural in an age where technology is dominant. Viva Magenta descends from the red color family and it is inspired by the red of the cochineal, one of the most precious dyes belonging to the family of natural dyes, as well as one of the strongest and brightest ever.

In 1963, Pantone revolutionized the printing industry with the colorful PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM®. This innovative tool allows for the faithful selection, articulation, and reproduction of consistent, accurate color anywhere in the world. PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM® organizes color standards through a proprietary numbering system and chip format, which have since become iconic to the Pantone brand. Pantone’s color language supports all color-conscious industries; textiles, apparel, beauty, interiors, architectural and industrial design, encompassing over 10,000 color standards across multiple materials, including printing, textiles, plastics, pigments, and coatings. Pantone Standards are available both digitally and physically. Integrated workflow tools such as PantoneLIVE and Pantone Studio ensure market relevancy and color achievability.

Since 1988, Pantone has been the standard in the textile industry; the first Pantone color of the year, announced in 1999, was Cerulean, 15-4020, featured in a famous scene in the 2006 movie The Devil Wears Prada. In 2008, Pantone created myPantone app, which in 2016 became Pantone Studio. Today, with X-Rite, Pantone can provide color technologies for any industry.
